Getting started

How does Tuckmoon count sleeps?

One sleep is one night. If the big day is tomorrow, that’s 1 sleep; on the day itself it says “Today is the day!”. The count drops at midnight. Long waits also show weeks (“2 weeks and 3 sleeps”) or months.

What is “tuck in tonight’s moon”?

A small bedtime ritual. Tap tonight’s glowing moon and a quilt comes up over it. It doesn’t change the count; the number still drops at midnight. On the big day, Tuckmoon tells you how many moons you tucked in.

Where are the settings?

Tap the “For grown-ups” button in the top corner of the home screen and answer the grown-up question. Settings has themes, widget help, the grown-up question switch, Restore purchase, privacy and contact.

What is the grown-up question, and can I turn it off?

Small fingers will be on the screen, so a quick multiplication protects settings, editing, purchases and links. You can switch it off in Settings under “Grown-up question”.

Do birthdays and holidays repeat by themselves?

Yes. Birthdays and yearly holidays roll over to next year after the day. Fixed holidays fill in their own date, and Easter is worked out every year. A one-off countdown (a trip, a visit) moves to the past list after its day.

Widgets

How do I add a widget on iPhone or iPad?
  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on the Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
  2. Tap + (or Edit, then Add Widget) in the top corner.
  3. Search for Tuckmoon and pick a size.
  4. To choose which countdown it shows, touch and hold the widget and tap Edit Widget.

Lock Screen (Pro): touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customise, then Lock Screen, tap the widget area and choose Tuckmoon. Widgets need iOS 17 or later.

How do I add a widget on Android?
  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on the home screen.
  2. Tap Widgets.
  3. Find Tuckmoon and drag a widget onto the screen.
  4. It shows the next countdown. To pick a different one, touch and hold the widget and tap its settings (or the pencil).

You can also add one straight from the app: Settings, then Widgets, then “Add to home screen”.

The widget shows the wrong number or hasn’t changed

Widgets count down by themselves at midnight, even when the app is closed. If one looks stuck, open Tuckmoon once: the app refreshes every widget when it opens. On Android, battery savers can delay the midnight update; allowing Tuckmoon to run in the background helps. If it still looks wrong, remove the widget and add it again, and let us know which phone you have.

The widget says to open the app

That means the widget has no countdown to show yet, or it was added before the app had run. Open Tuckmoon, add a countdown, and the widget fills in.

Tuckmoon Pro

What do I get with Pro, and is it a subscription?

Pro is a single purchase ($4.99 or the local equivalent) that you keep forever. No subscription. It adds unlimited countdowns, every child in the family, your own photos as pictures, Today’s plan, four more themes, and Lock Screen widgets on iPhone.

I bought Pro but it isn’t unlocked

Open Settings and tap “Restore purchase”, using the same Apple ID or Google account you bought with. You need an internet connection for this. On iPhone, Family Sharing members get Pro too.

I have a new phone

Pro comes with you: tap “Restore purchase” in Settings on the new phone. Your countdowns, children and photos are stored only on the old device, so they move across only if your phone’s own backup or transfer (iCloud backup, Quick Start, or Google’s device backup) includes app data.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are made through Apple or Google, so refunds go through them: reportaproblem.apple.com for the App Store, or your Google Play order history for Google Play.

Privacy and your data

Do you collect any data?

No. Children’s names, faces, photos, countdowns and plans stay on your device, and there is no account. The app only goes online to check, buy or restore Pro, and then RevenueCat, our payment provider, sees the purchase under an anonymous ID. Read the full privacy policy.

How do I delete my data?

Delete a countdown or child in the app, or delete the app to remove everything. If you bought Pro and want the anonymous purchase record at RevenueCat deleted too, email us. Your purchase stays valid and can be restored later.

Which languages does the app speak?

English at launch, with more languages on the way.
